Juan Bautista Rogerio Cooper


1791 -1872 – also known as John Bautista Rogers Cooper came to Monterey in 1823. In 1826 he opened a general merchandise store in Monterey, the site of the Cooper- Molera complex, married the sister of General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo, Encarnacion in 1827 and became a naturalized Mexican citizen in 1830.
