Gennosuke Kodini

1867 in Chiba Prefecture– July 1, 1930 – A Japanese abalone businessman, in 1897 he was sent to Monterey by the Japanese government to investigate the potential of developing an abalone business in Monterey. He partnered with businessman, Alexander M. Allan, together they established Point lobos Canning Company. By 1912, the Point Lobos Canning Company accounted for nearly 80% of the California abalone market.

Kodini was a respected leader of the Monterey Japanese community.
