"Historic Monterey" makes it easy, inviting and fun to explore Monterey's History. It is a partnership that includes the City of Monterey, Monterey State Historic Park (California State Parks) and the Monterey History and Art Association (MHAA). Many of Monterey's historic sites and resources are owned by these separate entities so "Historic Monterey" allows the partners to work collaboratively to promote an interest in and understanding of local history, historic structures and landmarks, and historical resources. "Historic Monterey" staff and docents are trained collaboratively so that comprehensive and consistent interpretation of Monterey's history is possible. "Historic Monterey" also works together to develop and promote events pertaining to local history.
